Rainbows!

Filed under: Uncategorized — yminisa @ 3:00 pm

While driving back from Ikea today, I saw a rainbow! It was the first time I saw a full rainbow. Most of the time, I’d only see a portion or half rainbow but today I saw the FULL SEMI CIRCLE. It was BEAUTIFUL. I can just imagine how Noah felt when he saw his first rainbow.

And I also saw the rainbow’s end, sort of. It was ending at ECP, beyond Bayshore.

Awhile after I got home, I saw a second rainbow right above the full one. My my.

Thank God for His Love and Promise, to never harm us nor forsake us. But to love us forever.

Where has it all gone?

Filed under: Uncategorized — yminisa @ 4:16 pm

Where did my youth go? Can I say that I made the fullest use of it? Can I say that I am happy with how it went?

I think it was too perfect.

Somebody once said that you know you had a fun night out when you cannot tell your parents what you did that night. How many of these nights have I had?

I dunno if I truly lived.

Good Night Benjamin

Filed under: Uncategorized — yminisa @ 3:39 pm

Caught Benjamin Button recently.

And boy did I cry buckets. Okay, not buckets but red-eyed enough to walk out embarassingly.

I have heard of people saying it is so-so, it is draggy and it is boring. However, this was totally not the case for me. To me, many of the parts of the movie were highly relevant to me and the relationship that I am in, and aspire to be in. No, I do not wish my boyfriend to grow younger, I just understand the emotions the characters were feeling.

My favourite scenes of the movie is how they told the story of Daisy being knocked down by the car AND how they were living in their little house together. It REALLY struck a chord in me. One of my favourite images is of Daisy holding the hands of toddler Benjamin and how they had a kiss during their walk in the park. I think that the movie is very well done.

I think its a cool movie to watch – not sure if its good for new couples but definitely good for old ones. Really feel so happy my boyfriend is normal. HAHA. Normality is something to thank God for definitely.

And for once, I was so engrossed I didnt even finish my popcorn – now that’s something amazing.

Peranakan Craze

I swear that what I did today has nothing to do with the Peranakan Craze that’s taking over Singapore.

I went to the Peranakan Museum – and it was for my Sociology Class Gender and Family.

We went there to learn about the Peranakan family’s life and more importantly, the Gender Roles.

And, this is one of the best museums I have been to (in Singapore). Personally, I feel that its even better than the National Museum because of the sheer amount of artifacts and the meaning and culture each of them embody.

The display of jewellery and wedding gifts just overwhelmed me. According to our guide, who is a Peranakan on both side of her family, the Little Nyonya is quite true to the Peranakan culture. Also, she provided ALOT of interesting and informative nuggests of info. Some of the artifacts belonged to people like Tan Kim Seng and Yap Ah Loy.

I really recommend that you should go and take a look. It costs $6 for adults and $3 for students.
