Antithetical.

Filed under: Random — yminisa @ 7:48 am

Nothing seems to go my way during examinations.

Whatever I decide to focus on never comes out. Whatever I ‘feel’ would be tested never gets tested.

I have decided, to always do the opposite of what I feel. But it also seems that usually what I read at the last minute is relevant. HAIZ.

Last paper tmr – Research Methods in Social Sciences

After which, I shall be really happy. But there would be a whole slew of activities to keep me busy – like SMUSAIC events and also Livre Laos planning.

Holiday is coming!

Filed under: Life — yminisa @ 9:45 am

I am seriously looking forward to the December holidays! I’ll be going to HK, and also Laos, and KL.

I know that sounds crazy. HAHA. HK is a family trip with my parents. Anyone want anything from there? I can try to get it. I know two other people travelling to HK too. One before me and one after me. How conincidental!

Laos is for OCIP.
Followed by a little R & R in KL. Wanted Bangkok initially but political situation there not very ideal for R & R.

But FIRST, let me finish my ONE project, TWO presentations, THREE term papers, and FOUR final exams. Good Luck.

Ice Cream Chef

Filed under: Uncategorized — yminisa @ 2:42 pm

Today I headed to Ice Cream Chef with the Boyfriend.

I tried Durian and Milo Peng. Milo Peng was mixed with Loacker biscuit. One scoop was three plus, and two scoops was i think $4.10, plus 90 cents for any mix-in you wanted. Except that for double scoop, you could only mix-in for one of the scoop – dunno what’s the logic though. If we’re willing to pay an additional 90 cents who cant we mix in something else?

The ice cream was TASTY! Especially Durian, it was comparable to the famous Durian Ice Cream at Scoopz (Parkway Parade), probably even better. Milo peng was yummy too. But I couldnt quite tell if it was the Loacker that made it nice or milo peng was nice. I think it was the Loacker.

I also ta-pau a pint of Durian ice cream back home (cost $9.50). Good thing about that place was that it serves free iced water! My only gripe is that parking isnt easy (till I found out that customers could park at a private carpark behind) and that there werent enough seats!

I would definitely go back, except I wish it was nearer to Siglap Centre. All in all, I’d give it a 8.5/10

I cant really compare it to Island Creamery yet, cos this is only my first time.

Happy Birthday Mik

Filed under: Life, Random — yminisa @ 8:17 am

Last week on 31st October we celebrated Mikaela’s birthday! (Her birthday is on 1st Nov). During our RMSS meeting, we said that it was time we took a break and so we led her downstairs while the others sneaked in to surprise her.

Here are some shots we took! Cant believe Mik and I were in the same JC orientation group. That seemed so long ago..

OH MY.

As a follow up to my previous post.

OH MY GOODNESS.

I promise you, right after posting the previous post – titled Amazing Grace, I started singing Amazing Grace and the LIGHT CAME ON.

Amazing Grace

Filed under: Random — yminisa @ 9:06 am

An interesting thing happened to me today when I was doing duty at the SIPF exhibition at SESS Gallery. It was only after 3 hours into my shift did I realise that there was a spotlight shining directly on my computer screen. This spotlight, created a colourful cross on my screen. I dont really know how to explain it, but cos of the computer screen, the light, and the fact that light has got 7 colours…. something like that. I tried taking a picture of it but it did not turn out well.

So I just decided to enjoy the cross. And I think that it’s God’s way of reminding me that He’s still around, reaching out for me. (Even though I must admit I have been very distant)

And I decided to sing a worship song, ‘Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy Is Your Name’. And just as I finished singing the chorus, the light went off. WOW.

I’m not sure if it was stipulated to off at a certain time or it blew or what, I’m just amazed at how it seems so spritual.

Nonetheless, thank God for the ’sighting’!

A Wedding Affair

Filed under: Life — yminisa @ 4:26 am

Just I attended my cousin’s wedding yesterday.

First I went to the airport to fetch my dad, who was coming back from Holland. And I had yummy Macs breakfast. Reached Limin’s house at around 8 plus and saw her ’sisters’ preparing fo the tekan session. Some of the highlights were the groom wearing reindeer ears and pink shrek-like ears together with lipstick. They had to eat wasabi with biscuits, drink bitter stuffs and eat lemons. In addition, there was a really cute dance they had to do. The worse, I thought, was them having to put their feet in a pail of ice and water to find the right key to the brides’ room door. I’m sure it was really cold.

The dinner was at 88 restaurant and the food was good, but of course, the ambience cannot be compared to hotel venues.

What I took away from the wedding was what I wanted for my own wedding. I definitely want something that makes people go : wow, I want this for my wedding / if only i did this for my wedding. I am thinking maybe I should do away with the chinese dinner and go for a more westernised one. Or maybe I wont have tea ceremony in the house but at the hotel. It’d be good if I were able to have a dinner where there’s a dance floor for the wedding couple to take the first dance and guests will also join in. But who’s gonna dance man. None of the relatives will even step on the dance floor.

And for once, I want a REAL wedding cake.

Congratulations Steven and Limin!
