I saw with surprise, a video by 20/20 on yahoo.com, naming Singapore the happiest country in Asia.
I wonder what would people’s reactions be to this. I personally feel that apart from the uncontrollables (e.g., the weather) I am VERY happy in Singapore. I have the peace of mind that my government would handle ANYTHING that comes our way, control inflation rates as best as they can, improve on the housing, the high costs of medical treatment, ensure the competitive edge. There are just SO many things that i am confident that my country would do to continue in its progress. And you certainly cannot deny that it was our strong education system and the right focus that got us so far (however i think that it’s time for some changes and to recognise the efforts of the pple in the arts industry)
I’m not that bugged by its so-called ‘political oppression’, it’s not as if people can vote rationally, and i certainly dont feel that the Singaproe society is ready to decide who they want to govern them. Although it is also because of the so-called ‘one-party’ state that has resulted in many people voting for the opposition just for the sake of voting for the opposite side.
But i am PERFECTLY HAPPY in SINGAPORE.
